I flew out to New York City for a very special bachelorette weekend recently and while I have so much to say about our amazing, yet brief, three days in the city, I thought I would focus my post around the fantastic eating and drinking we did.
As with any fabulous bachelorette party (or hen do for your Brits), when we weren’t eating, we were drinking and when we weren’t drinking, we were eating. Glorious weekend of gluttony!
Landed at JFK at 11am on Friday – picked up a Smart Water (which makes me look so smart), the latest Cosmo (which makes me look less smart – it was that or the Economist – hell, I was on vacation) AND a big ole bag of peanut butter M&Ms. Hello AMERICA!
Now on to the real eating and drinking…
We drank prosecco and champagne on the roof terrace of the Club Quarters on 51st Street and 5th Avenue. Gorgeous views of St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Rockefeller Center… plus we BYOB’ed the whole thing – divine.
We trotted over to Hell’s Kitchen for dinner at Obao for some Thai food. The menu was fantastic so drinks, starters and mains were quickly ordered. Some of the highlights:
The cocktail menu was creative (and slightly weird)… my cocktail came in a jar, with smoke and smelled like an orthodox church. Other more conventional cocktails were available for those feeling a bit more mainstream (I basically live on the edge).
The beautiful and ever so thoughtful maid of honor did all of the Saturday planning and this sweet girl deserves a million gold stars for her excellent selection of drinking and dining.
We started out with coffee and breakfast fare at Kava in the West Village. Not only do they do fab coffee (and have almond milk!!) but they also have delicious breakfast options (bagels with lox, fruit and yogurt parfaits)… parfait! Thanks to the gorgeous weather, I opted for a giant iced coffee complete with almond milk – if only every Saturday morning started with a giant iced coffee with almond milk, in the West Village with some of my most fierce friends.
Once we had our caffeine fix, we headed to get manis/pedis together.
After our mani/pedi extravaganza, we headed to brunch at Good. Amazing selection of sweet and savory options, fresh bakery, outstanding cocktails and a relaxed atmosphere – this place was a sweet find.
Some other favorites from Good: griddled cheddar cornbread, basil and goat cheese egg scramble, vanilla buttermilk pancakes, warm sugar & spice donuts, the kentucky mule and the chipotle bloody mary!
SO much food and drink, this will have to be split into two posts. More to come shortly on the rest of our indulgent weekend in NYC!
