Serious business

Weekends are serious business, people. After three very fun but very busy weekends, this weekend was about laundry, cleaning and relaxation (one of those three I do very well…. the other two… not so much).

Saturday was spent doing the two activities I hate, but on the plus side, it meant lounging in my onesie, snuggling with a certain difficult feline and watching movies.

We are big believers in Saturday (all-day) cartoons. We lead such exciting lives.

But on Sunday, we decided to get out of the house for a bit of fun before the start of another busy work week. So we went for a late brunch at New Street Grill, where Le Bun (amazing French-American food truck) is featuring a pop-up brunch menu for the next few weekends.

We got a great table by the window and settled in to a very enticing menu:

I'll have one of everything, please.

I started with a Le Cafe cocktail – love espresso martinis so this really hit the spot – perfect for Sunday afternoon brunch.

It's like an iced coffee... but better!

We decided to split the Truffles ‘n’ Waffles as a starter because we both wanted it so bad

Truffle butter and rosemary maple syrup?!?! I died.

Then I went with the Le Benedict as my main – and I was sure that my main man would keep his paws off due to the lovely maple cured bacon nestled in my sandwich… muhahahaha

Look at all that hollandaise…

And he decided to go with Le Duck Frites which featured a gorgeous champagne slaw

Look at that slaw!

Worried that he would be hungry after all that, he also opted for a side of mac and cheese (I swear the man knows me better than I know myself…)

The food was FANTASTIC and reasonably priced – our three main dishes, one side and one very strong cocktail set us back £42. Not bad for Sunday brunch in the City.

We decided to fend off the fast approaching food coma by wandering around Shoreditch – made a large loop from Liverpool Street over to Spitalfields, up Brick Lane, up to Shoreditch High Street, over to Arnold Circus, down to Old Street and back again. It was a beautiful afternoon for a walk and it gave us some time to better explore the little streets that are only a short distance from my office (where I am pushing for a move next fall!).

To round off the weekend, we stopped at the cinema near our house on the way home to see what was playing. We decided to double-feature it with Gone Girl (my choice – so good) and The Equalizer (clearly not my choice but still pretty good).

Happy Monday to you all!!
