Autumn in New York

Oh New York… I love everything about it – the skyscrapers, the waterfront, the shopping, the crowds, the restaurants and the overall buzz… gets me every.single.time. After two trips last fall to New York (see here, here and here), I jumped at the chance to tack on a few days in the big apple on my way to Chicago for a work conference. So I took an extra day off work and flew to New York to spend the day with one of my dearest, sweetest friends who lives on the gorgeous Upper East Side, before the arrival of my work besties on Saturday morning.

I flew out of London early on Friday morning – having a delectable breakfast (expense that) at Fortnum & Mason in Terminal 5:

Avocado, chili and lemon on toast with tea.

It was such a gorgeous day to fly:

We lead parallel lives on different sides of the pond.

And have been through a lot together and apart.

But when we do get together, giggles abound.

After an amazing Italian dinner (truffle risotto, charred squid salad and separate desserts because god forbid we actually share dessert – the waiter had the gall to suggest that and we were like, ummm, no….), we made our way back to her stunning apartment and fell fast asleep – two blondes and the cat in a twin bed… we didn’t have the energy or mental capacity to actually blow up the air mattress.

Saturday morning we took a leisurely stroll along the East River before grabbing some breakfast supplies.

Loved the ivy everywhere.

I always match my scarf and mug…. always.
We lounged at home and caught up on all of the gossip in each other's lives - it was the most divine Saturday morning ever.

I eventually jumped in a cab and headed to the Waldorf Astoria where I was set to meet all of my work compadres who had just landed from London. We then went out to explore, shop, eat and run around until our dinner reservations later that evening.

At dinner I selfied with everyone… whether they liked it or not. We had dinner at the Stanton Social, which was fantastic.

Sunday morning was a bit rude but we survived.

Anna joined us for dinner at the Strip House in Midtown… and of course, we managed to match because we are literally the same person.

The food was divine.

We even ordered crazy huge desserts.

Selfies to top off the night in front of Rockefeller Center.

The drinking and fun continued once again late into the evening… but it just meant that when we got to LaGuardia to fly to Chicago, everyone had earned a well-deserved Five Guys.
