Some of you may know that I spent a glorious summer working nights and weekends in the office of the wonderful Fat Tire Bike Tours in Paris (woop – summer 2012!). The people I met that summer are, to this day, some of my favorite people on the planet. One of those fab people had a work trip to London and we had dinner – she and some of the other people from Fat Tire were planning on spending a weekend in Ireland two weeks later and she invited me along… so I booked my tickets using my BA miles!
I landed late Friday night and met the crew at one of the bars on Market Street. The reunion was super sweet and the night was full of fun and catching up. I was also let in on the ginger hunting competition… everyone was on a mission to make out with a ginger and the loser had to buy a round of drinks at the end of the weekend.
On Saturday we had brunch at the Queen of Tarts, wandered the streets of Dublin and went to the Guinness factory for a tour and a pint before driving to Galway. Proof is in the pictures:
We made our way out of Dublin and hit the road for Galway where we checked into our hostel and made dinner plans. We ended up at Dock No. 1 for dinner, which was fantastic.
Then we went on a mission to find live music and fun – boy did we succeed.
The night ended with pizza and hostel crashing…
Sunday morning was…. rough. We jumped (well, relatively) into the car and headed to the Cliffs of Moher with Mumford and Sons on full blast:
Even though I lost the ginger hunting competition (although I feel like a winner because the ginger talent was a bit lacking), it was such an unexpected and wonderful weekend away – left me feeling really fortunate to have such fantastic friends (even if our reunions are few and far between and our lives continue in different parts of the world).
