Most Wonderful Time of the Year

2015 is quickly coming to a close (for better or worse…. okay, mostly for better) and I just made my swift return from the holiday festivities in Wisco. Here is a recap with pics:

The holiday season was in full swing in the days leading to Christmas, which was also my sister’s last week in London.

The Shard at night

After cute little kitten went back to America (don’t fret, I saw her four days later), I had quite a lot to get done – work, crafting for crafty Christmas (see below) and end of year social engagements.

And then all of a sudden it was Christmas Eve! I got home in the late afternoon and finished crafting and packing before my ride to Heathrow on Christmas Day.

Looking fresh as a daisy on arrival in Chicago

I got to Chicago and picked up my rental car, heading north in two parts – firstly to the ‘burbs of Milwaukee to see my dad and his wife for some Christmas cheer and a gift exchanged, then secondly further north to Green Bay to my grandma’s house where the rest of my fam was eagerly awaiting my arrival.

The boys making breakfast

The boys left the day after Christmas because they were moving apartments in Minneapolis the next day. My mom and sis left a day later, leaving me to have some special time with my Grammie-pie. I had to leave a few hours earlier than expected due to a huge snow storm that moved into the area – the first major storm of the season.

Hate hate hate driving in snow storms

Finally made it to my mom’s house and hunkered down for the night

Flying into London early Wednesday morning

And just like that, 2015 ends in less than 24 hours… this year has been a whirlwind on so many different fronts and I would be lying if I said I was sad to see it go. As with any new year, I will be posting a super cliche, cringe-worthy, ‘new year, new you’ post in the next couple of days. Meanwhile, I am going to try and kick this crazy jet lag, catch up on my sleep, spend some time with my gorgeous friend who is in town for the long weekend, get dressed up in 1920s flapper gear for a fabulous NYE prohibition-themed party and get my life together for the amazing, weird and wonderful year that will be 2016.
