Another day, another post about a recent weekend away… y’all must be getting sick of my jetsetter lifestyle (sorrynotsorry). Well, here is another weekend for the books: we flew to Edinburgh, Scotland for a 48 hour sojourn full of castles, scotch whiskey and kilted bagpipe players. It was delightful.

If this hadn’t been roped off, I would have posed in the U…. or on the N….. disappointing
Saturday morning stroll in the Princes Street Gardens
Blue skies and a castle on a hill
A clock made out of succulents (to be replicated on my wall at home)
Queen of the Castle
King of the Castle
Tickling the serpent’s snout to show support of the witches burned in Edinburgh (thanks, Rick Steves Europe Walking Tours)
Weird mirrors result in skinny selfies
At the top of the Royal Mile
Churches and steeples
Then we found some owls… which I was pretty excited about – look at that wee little owl!
This one was feeling a bit standoff-ish
But that didn’t stop me…
Chest nuzzling was in the cards
And I was devastated when he left
Church turned marketplace
Unicorns all over the city (totes approp)
More castles and obelisks
We hiked up to Arthur’s Seat for some panoramic views
And we found various golden unicorns at Holyrood Palace
Which obviously led to a series of serious pictures
For a whiskey tour and tasting
They also house the largest collection of Scotch Whiskey in the world
And obviously required a mirror selfie as proof
And to finish Saturday off, we had the most incredible dinner at Ondine, sitting up at the Oyster Bar
Sunday was as it should be – full of brunch, wandering around and exploring.
Sunday morning required a serious sleep in followed by ritual Sunday brunch at Papii
Complete with crazy people, crazy straws, smoked salmon and bacon waffles
After brunch we went to the Castle and spent a couple hours exploring
Had fun playing with cannons
And taking illicit pictures on them
Views from the Castle of Arthur’s Seat
More castle antics
After the Castle, we walked up Carlton Hill for more views of the city… then went to hide from the rain.
It was a short and sweet weekend – complete with everything that makes a weekend wonderful (no work, adventure, travel, brunch, amazing food, excellent company, etc.)… and before you know it, we will be jetting off to another location this weekend! We leave Friday on the man’s mystery weekend. I have absolutely no idea where we are going – all I know is that we leave work at 6pm Friday and I need to pack summery clothes and we are going somewhere I have never been before. Excitement is an understatement and doesn’t even begin to cover the anticipation. Stay tuned for more info!
