June Beauty Picks!

We are halfway through June already – when did this happen!?!? There has been a heavy focus on getting rid of student loans around here lately (in the spirit of school’s out for the summer) but it is time to have some fun… summer is finally here! And as with most summers, my weekends tend to get all planned up – this year is no exception.

In the span of one month, I have Pinknic on Governor’s Island, an extra-long weekend along the Connecticut/Rhode Island coast, a trip to Canada for some fam time on Georgian Bay and a weekend in Washington DC for friends and baby shower festivities! Eeek! So if you are anything like me, life is looking busy and beautiful for the foreseeable future!

Today, I am going to reveal all of my June beauty favorites – with more to come on the summer fashion and accessories front!

This post contains affiliate links – which means I have scoured the internet looking for the best bang for your buck on the products and sites which I love the very most – and yes, this means that I get a little something extra for my time, but it doesn’t cost you anything extra!

One of my favorite things is getting eyelash extensions – especially in the summer – no need for mascara or any other eye makeup (especially if you are as blonde as I am)… but it can be a pricey addiction. If you are based in or around London, please please please go see the queen of my lashes, Claire at FatLash – she is the goddess of all things eyelashes. I cannot give her enough praise, kudos or fantastic reviews. I faithfully got my lashes done the last 18 months I was in London and I miss her dearly (for more reasons than just for the lashes)!

If you aren’t in London (tragic… I know), you should definitely give Revitalash a try. This was my alternative to spending crazy money in NYC on lash extensions. Revitalash makes my lashes longer and stronger – while it doesn’t make them as full as eyelash extensions, it is the next best thing. All I have to do is throw on my BB cream, a swipe of Revitalash and mascara and run out the door to work in the morning. Easy peasy. Grab the trial size or the full size – I bought the full size in October and still haven’t run out!

You may remember that I gave you my favorite BB creams with SPF in them in the May Favorites post, but June (and the rest of the summer) definitely requires some serious sunscreen for all of the sunny days – in the city or at the beach.

I have a couple of favorites when it comes to sun protection, all of which are super fiscally responsible (less than $10):

Dr. Dennis Gross – Moisture Cushion and Daily Alpha Beta Peels

While we are on topic of skin, I have to tell you about my latest skin care regimen. I am obsessed with my dermatologist – mostly because she has given me a daily skin care routine that leaves me with glowing, flawless skin! As some background, my skin has been devastatingly problematic for YEARS. I’ve tried cutting things out of my diet, tried tons of prescriptions and creams and all sorts of nonsense. Nothing has helped until now.

A huge part of my routine are over the counter products – all of which are made by a dermatologist based in NYC: Dr. Dennis Gross. And while his name is, well, Gross – his products are AMAZING.

The best moisturizer I have ever used: Dr. Dennis Gross Hyaluronic Moisture Cushion – I put this on once a day, before bed.

Three times a week I do at home peels – it clears off all sorts of nasty stuff that stick to my skin in this big ole dirty city. I have been using Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel – they also have the gentle and the extra strong versions, but I prefer the standard Universal ones.

Now – if you wanna try this combo for two weeks, just to see how it feels – you can order a special two week peel and moisturize kit here. It is a lot cheaper on Amazon than in a lot of stores (like Sephora) and the products are a bit more pricey when buying the individual full size versions so the combo kit is a great way of trying it without too much commitment.

Let’s talk about hair for a second…

I have zero tolerance for blow drying my hair in the summer. So I have two options – (1) air dry and hope for beachy waves; or (2) air dry and make beachy waves.

Not Your Mother’s – Beach Babe Soft Waves Sea Salt Spray

I have tried a bunch of different sea salt sprays and frankly, most are disappointing. Not Your Mother’s is my favorite – it doesn’t make my hair crunchy, it smells fantastic and doesn’t weigh my hair down. I have used it on wet and dry hair and both results have been perfect.

Beachwaver Automatic Curling Wand

The other method to my madness is fixing crazy hair with the Beachwaver – I use the 1.25” curling iron for my hair, which is perfect for medium/long hair. If your hair is really short you may want the 1” wand. I have always hated curling my hair – not for the look but for the time/energy expense… no more! This is an automatic curling wand so you clip the hair and hold down arrow buttons – the barrel moves for you! It is so easy and has cut my curling time in half, with fab results. I use it for all sorts of events (weddings, summer parties, work, date night, etc.) – definitely one of my favorite things!

Have a beautiful summer, my little kumquats!!
